SPINE POETRY

 Spine Poetry ... what is it??  Well ... it's a simple poem using the spines of books.  My students found 5 books and arranged their titles to create their own unique poem.  Some of the poems turned out pretty good ... Enjoy! :-)

REFLECTION

Looking back to the beginning of my time at CVMS it always makes me smile.  This was my 2nd year as a teacher and I was lucky enough to be on THE BEST team in the building ... 6th Grade Explorers.  The five of us worked so well together and shared many laughs.  Even though some of this team are now teaching or working elsewhere, I remember this time with great fondness.

INSPIRATION

Each year I travel to my parents' house in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.  It's here that I not only find relaxation, but also inspiration. The time I spend at our mountain getaway is during the winter, sometimes Spring Break, and almost always during the hot Texas month of August.  While sitting on the front porch reading a book or 4-wheeling along a mountain trail, I marvel in the beautiful landscape and sunsets that Colorado residents are lucky enough to have each day.  Remind me why I live in the concrete jungle of Dallas?!?  ha ha :-)

SURPRISE

SMILE ... SNAP!!  This is the view that many people see of me ... I'm always behind a camera lens ... sometimes my subjects see me coming, but sometimes they don't.  I can usually get some pretty good candid pictures of my family, friends, and students ... and what's even better ... they never knew I was stalking them waiting to capture a great moment.  Keep on the lookout, I will be out and about with my trusty camera and might snap a shot of you.  :-)

RELAXATION

On Friday nights, you can find me and my family hanging out in our driveway with our neighbors.  We are all good friends and finishing off the long week of school and work laughing and watching the kids play is our way to unwind and relax.  Sometimes even the girls stop running around & playing soccer to chill while playing a game.  As the night goes on, we are joined by other friends who live in our neighborhood or stop by ... we order pizza and hang out outside all night.  It's low key, but lots of fun.

ORDINARY MOMENT

Strangely enough, morning donuts have become quite the "ordinary" moment lately ... I've had donuts 3 times in the last 2 weeks.  The first time was a fun Valentine's Day party, planned by some of my students.  The second time was for my son's birthday.  And the third time ... Officer Anderson & I shared some laughs and donuts during a meeting.  These ordinary moments (also a nice treat) is great way to start the day.
